Alfonso Badillo

As a multidisciplinary artist and researcher, Alfonso explores the intricate hierarchies of power shaped by social dynamics, discourse construction, social narratives, and the institutional value within the art world.

His work took center stage in the solo exhibition "El Cuerpo es una Habitación Vacía" [The body is an empty room] (LC. Expos, Monterrey, 2021), featuring paintings, videos, and installations that scrutinized the imagery imposed on the female figure by gay men. This critical exploration delved into the patriarchal gaze within the queer male community.

Alfonso's performative pieces have graced various events, including the TimeOut: II National Performance Contest in Public Spaces (HorasPerdidas, Monterrey, 2022) and the 4th International Performance Encounter NLHUMA (Aguascalientes, 2022).

His recognition as an emerging artist came through his selection for the 3rd Nuevo León State Art Award 2022, culminating in an exhibition at CONARTE's facilities.

Currently, he resides and studies in Monterrey, Mexico.
